DISCOVER THE UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS TERROIR
Gewürztraminer: Freshness and Precision
With the goal of exploring new dimensions in our white wine, we are studying how this variety adapts to our soils and climate. It surprises with its rich aromas and early ripening, adapting perfectly to the growing cycle of the Duero Valley.
The soil, with its distinct calcareous composition, defines the wine’s character, imparting structure and depth. Within this balance, its lively yet restrained aging preserves the wine’s freshness and refines its nuances, resulting in an elegant, complex expression full of personality.

Winemakers’ Collection
Adapting to the new climatic context through the introduction of new grape varieties that respond to the new times marked by temperature increases, irregular rainfall or extreme events. Expert hands carry out, in small volumes, the vinification of new grape varieties, testing different winemaking techniques in order to study the behavior of the terroir and everything that arises. A work that results in an exclusive and select collection of wines, which are bottled to study their evolution and are available to customers, to share with them the learning process.
Abadía Retuerta POD
Abadía Retuerta has its own Protected Designation of Origin, a distinction granted by the European Commission. The achievement of this recognition is linked to the winemaking tradition that precedes the winery, with more than VIII centuries of history, to the work done by the vineyard and winery team to recover a historic vineyard by implementing ecological practices, and to their extensive knowledge of the climate. A work philosophy that has favored the sustainable management of the vineyard and the knowledge of how to face the effects of climate change.
The character of the soil is transformed into wine
An ideal environment for growing grapes
The particularity of the valley in which it is located, which is narrower than in the rest of the Ribera del Duero, the fact that its slopes are closer together than in other areas, which causes temperatures to drop significantly, and the unique peculiarity and great variety of soils magnify the wines of Abadía Retuerta.
Abadía Retuerta’s winery and vineyard team have focused their efforts on studying these conditions in order to know every detail of their estate and provide virtue to their wines.
