Abadía Retuerta ESG
Responsibility for our legacy
Sustainability is part of our essence. The history of Abadía Retuerta began to be written in 1146 when the Premonstratensian Order arrived from France and chose a beautiful corner of the Duero River to settle and begin to write a story that today has become an almost millennial legacy that is sustained on the basis of a cultural, historical and natural heritage.
The restoration of the Abbey itself is an example of sustainability, with a deep, respectful intervention, completely focused on restoring the grandeur of a space declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1931 with the category of Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC). The purpose of the restoration was to protect and conserve the historical heritage and recover this space in a manner faithful to its original architecture.
Our mission now is to bequeath this heritage to the next generations in the best conditions. Hence our firm commitment to sustainability, with the promotion of initiatives of value and the development of ethical and responsible actions that value our history, without
never condition the future of the community in which we carry out our activities.
The Abadía Retuerta project was born linked to wine and is growing by creating an experiential destination based on a model of sustainable heritage management and territorial development through the generation of employment, socioeconomic evolution and the promotion of sustainable tourism.
Abadía Retuerta considers ESG (environmental, social and governance) criteria as a fundamental pillar of its activity. We work every day to have a positive impact on the well-being of people, on our environment and on the sustainability of the planet with a strategy based on a firm commitment to all environmental, social and governance issues, promoting inclusive and sustainable growth.
Each year we publish a Sustainability Report under the criteria established by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and supported and linked to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
