This wine, with great character, is made entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. After nearly thirty years, this variety is almost perfectly adapted to the unique enclave of the Pago Valdebellón, with its chalky soil that benefits from the particular microclimate in the highest part of the estate.
The result is a wine of a dark and intense colour, exuding a fresh, delicate air of sweet spices, exotic fruits and mineral aromas. Its persistent bouquet of redcurrant and shrubs accentuates the potential of the variety. Overall, it is a complex and generous wine that has become well-known and recognised as the best Cabernet Sauvignon in Spain.
Its bouquet entails aromas of exotic and black fruits, with hints of underbrush and sweet spices that are complemented by a slight suggestion of green pepper. On the palate it is tasty and elegant, with a long finish. This wine is brimming with life, and is highly ageworthy. It faithfully reflects the variety's character.
The winter rains ensured a good start to the cycle. After a warm spring, sprouting began unusually early, around mid-April. This was followed by above-average temperatures in May, albeit with rains it making the vines grow quickly. Summer was very warm, September was not overly hot, and it was marked by many days of rainfall. This conditioned the make-up of the vintage, as from this point onwards there was a sudden drop in the acidity of the grapes and the alcoholic content did not go up for three weeks.
