Why should we communicate inappropriate behaviors?

 Because it is the right thing to do, we must act with the highest ethical standards. Speaking out is the best way to  to promoteculture of trust to prevent and detect inappropriate conduct that could damage the reputation and success of both the company and our employees, such as possible breaches of European Union law, criminal acts or serious or very serious administrative offenses.

Examples of inappropriate conduct include undisclosed conflicts of interest, fraud, discrimination or harassment. These examples are not exhaustive, so if in doubt, contact the SpeakUp, Culture & Talent and Compliance Office or your manager.

Communications may be submitted in writing or in writingverbally. For this purpose, the company provides its employees with the following  communication routes:

  • Web form (i-Sight | Portal) or from the application installed in the corporate cell phone, if available.
  • By telephone at 900-75-1038 (ITFS number for Spain).
  • Through the following e-mail address: spain@novartis.com
  • Requesting a face-to-face meeting with the Internal Information System Manager (SpeakUp).
  • By communicating it to your manager or any member of the Culture & Talent and Compliance function, the CEO or any member of Global Security.

In addition, employees may report misconduct to the relevant authorities.


 Essential principles of the Internal Information System (SpeakUp):

  1. Obligation to report: as indicated in the company’s Code of Ethics, all employees are required to report actual or suspected incidents of misconduct to the SpeakUp Office.
  2. Confidentiality guarantee: the identity of the persons who communicate an event or who are related and/or involved in the same will be treated as confidential information.
  3. Effective processing of communications received, including anonymous communications.
  4. Treat those who entrust us with their concerns with respect, fairness, confidentiality and protection against retaliation.
  5. Investigate, establish the facts and seek the truth with a sense of urgency, respecting and guaranteeing the presumption of innocence and the right to honor.
  6. Ensure fair and consistent corrective actions.
  7. Provide feedback to those who raise their concerns.
